Christ@Center@Huntington Not@Top

Huntington University has taken on a new ideology this year.  Christ@Center is a thought brought up by the president of Wheaton College to help the colleges in the CCCU find ways to help their students understand better what it means to have Christ at the center of their education.  Part of this makes me cringe, mainly because it feels like overkill.  I think Huntington has done a great job at helping those who are interested in knowing about how Christ can be the center of their liberal arts education.

So my question is this: Is this a push to get those who are not interested in making Christ the center of their education to change their view?  If so, I don't think it's going to work.  It's like trying to get a penguin to fly.  Not happening.

This campaign is not@the top of my priority list this semester.  I'm more concerned about what I can learn in Capstone about being an educated Christian after college.  Leaving a legacy at Huntington University is not my goal.  I'm simply living in a way that gets me out of here on schedule, which happens to be 86 days.

Thomas -- I respect your thoughts very much. But I don't think that HU and the people involved with planning the events is trying to push anyone to change who doesn't see Christ at the center of their education

Because just like you, I don't think they it would work, and I think the administration knows that.

I see it as a day to reflect on what this institution is all about and how we can better strive to have Christ at our center as a community. I personally don't think we should focus on our individual needs and wants on March 5.

It should be about the body at HU coming together to discuss the institution. I think that if I were to be thinking of me, I would be sleeping all day on march 5. But I've come to realize that this discussion is important as an institution.

I think that as seniors, we have a lot to contribute to the discussion. We have seen this place go from a small college to a lot bigger university (100 more people since we were freshmen!). We have seen the changes first hand over the years.

I know that it's easy to check out at this point in the year, believe me i'm counting down those days just as much you. But I would encourage you Thomas, to not give up on the symposium and the events of March 5 because you have valued thoughts and reflections to contribute to the discussion.

I just don't see see whats wrong with evaluating how Christ is at the center of this institution and He can become more at the center.

Thanks for posting your thoughts Thomas!
